Don't let roofing be over your head (see what we did there!)
There are five main kinds of roofs you will typically see here in Texas:
What damages my roof?
Wind is one of the top causes of roof damage.
Hailstorms damage the structure of the shingles.
Critters such as bats, birds, raccoons, squirrels or mice may nest on your roof.
Debris can cause moisture to accumulate on your roof.
UV rays can cause your roof to dry out and rot.
Shiny edges of shingles visible from the ground indicate a roof is nearing the end of its life.
Stay off your roof as much as possible.
If hail comes through your area, have a reputable roofer examine it for possible damage.
Make sure your attic ventilation is adequate.
Keep tree limbs trimmed well away from roof surfaces 8 to 10 feet away.
Never put a second layer of roofing over the first just to save money.
